I always seemed naïve delusion that the world is ruled by banks, oil kings and other corporations
The world is ruled by guns and those who possess them. Probably because the arms trade is one of the most profitable businesses.
Those who own the means of production of weapons—ruled the world, ruled by politicians and dictate their own terms.
Any other production, including oil and banking industry can comprehend the crisis and falling profits
But gun sales will never go down in price.
Consequently it is–the world is ruled by the gun manufacturers, not the bankers or the oil companies.
The market weapons, such as, for example, the automotive market requires new territories, updating of assortment of weapons, including by its use.
After the Second world war somehow became unfashionable to fight States with each other. The vacuum but the market doesn’t tolerate…
Perhaps that is why today spawned a fashion in the war against international terrorism
.The market is the market. And fashion is an integral component.
According to the data presented by the Stockholm international Institute of world problems (SIPRI), the total arms sales in 2011-2015 increased 14% worldwide, compared to the years 2006-2010.
Two main active region saturated with weapons sales in Asia and Oceania increased from 42% to 46%, while in the middle East arms sales have grown from 18 to 25% and now the region is in second place with the highest amount of import of weapons.
The majority of arms shipments to the middle East are the United States, accounting for 41% of arms exports to the region.
Asia and Oceania received 40% of American weapons. In addition, 68% of Russian arms exports went to the same region. The biggest arms dealer in Asia — China, which has armed Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
At the time, as the acquisition of weapons is also on the rise in Africa, in Europe and in the Americas there has been a sharp decline in the inflow of new weapons.
According to a report from the Stockholm international Institute of peace studies, sales of the 100 biggest arms manufacturers on the globe, amounted in 2014 to just over $400 billion.
The U.S. accounted for 54.4% of the world’s arms sales in the world in 2014, followed by the UK and Russia. Seven out of ten largest companies-manufacturers of weapons in the world are American.
In its press release of February 22, 2016 SIPRI writes: the U.S. and Russia remain the largest exporters of weapons.
China continues to expand its military capabilities, both from imported and domestic production of weapons. Neighbouring States such as India, Vietnam and Japan also strengthened its national armed forces.
Arms imports by States in the Middle East rose by 61% in the period 2011-15гг. compared to the years 2006-10. In 2011 15гг. Saudi Arabia is the second largest importer of arms, has increased the import of weapons to 275% (almost three times!) compared to the years 2006-10.
In the same period, the import of arms to the UAE grew by 35%, while Qatar grew by 279%, while in Egypt imports of arms increased by 37%, primarily due to a sharp growth in 2015.
According to SIPRI, the coalition of Arab States, which is fighting in Syria, relies largely on American and European weapons. Despite low oil prices, large shipments of weapons to the middle East is expected to continue in the framework of contracts signed in the last five years.
With its 33% share of total arms exports, the U.S. was the main exporter of armaments in the years 2011-15. US exports major weapons increased by 27% compared to the 2006-10 years.
Russian exports of major weapons increased in 2011-15, at 28% compared to the 2006-10 years and, thus, the share of Russia in the last 5 years accounted for 25% of world exports.
However, in 2014 and 2015, Russian arms exports have returned to the lower annual levels observed in the years 2006-10. The decline of Russian exports, obviously, linked to Western sanctions imposed against major Russian exporter of armaments.
At that time, as regional conflicts and tensions continue to rise, the US remains the leading arms supplier by a wide margin. Over the past five years the United States sold and/or transferred weapons at least 96 countries, and the military industry of the USA has large export orders, including for supplies of 9 States with a total of 611 units of modern combat aircraft F-35.
Other interesting and speak for themselves figures: — import of weapons in Mexico has increased over the last five years 331% compared to the previous five years;
— Azerbaijan at the same time increased the import of weapons to 217%;
— during the same period, arms imports to Iraq increased by 83%;
— at the same time, arms imports by States in Europe decreased by 41%.
The SIPRI database on arms transfers contains information on all international transfers of major conventional weapons (including sales, gifts and production licences) to States, international organizations and armed non-state groups from 1950 to the most recent full calendar year. SIPRI data reflects the volume of actual deliveries of arms, not the financial value of transactions.
